Mr. Occhiuto is an attorney in the firm’s Healthcare Law & Medical Malpractice Defense Group. He focuses his practice on defending healthcare professionals and institutions and has experience handling complex cases involving a variety of medical specialties including Radiology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Orthopedic Surgery. Mr. Occhiuto actively advocates for clients both inside and outside of the courtroom to maximize optimal outcomes. He also has experience handling appellate matters in the Michigan and federal courts of appeals. Mr. Occhiuto researches and authors articles detailing the current state and emergent areas of Michigan medical malpractice law and lectures to healthcare providers regarding the medical-legal overlap.

Mr. Occhiuto earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, magna cum laude. During his time in law school, Mr. Occhiuto participated in the MSU Law First Amendment Clinic, where he provided instruction to Michigan high school students on the importance of free speech in the context of public school. He also worked for a mid-sized law firm in Okemos, specializing primarily in automobile negligence, premises liability, and no-fault work. Mr. Occhiuto holds a B.A., with honor, from Michigan State University in Political Science.

He is currently a member of the Healthcare Law, Administrative & Regulatory Law, Insurance Law, Negligence Law, and Young Lawyers sections of the State Bar of Michigan.
