George D. Mercer, Chair of the Construction Law and Real Estate Sections


Mr. George Mercer concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and mortgage lending. He has closed numerous commercial real estate mortgages acquisitions and sales including negotiation and documentation of Conduit Loans and other complex financing agreements. He has negotiated both landlord and tenants in commercial office leasing and multi-family development general leases and sale and leasebacks.

Mr. Mercer has been engaged to help manage distressed commercial properties workouts and foreclosures. He served as counsel for the Resolution Trust Corporation in foreclosing and reselling the landmark Pontchartrain Hotel in Detroit, Michigan and also served as buyer’s counsel for the acquisition and financing of the American Center in Southfield, Michigan.

Mr. Mercer has an “AV” Peer Review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest ranking by peers for general ethical standards and legal ability.
